WHY IS BLACK PEPPER EXTRACT ADDED TO THE TURMERIC IN PRODUCT?

To increase the bioavailability of turmeric.  Bioavailability is the proportion of a nutrient which is absorbed by the body. Since studies have shown poor absorption of turmeric extracts, dietary supplements should have  black pepper extract added to the formula to increase absorption by the body. The usefulness of active turmeric is determined by the amount of turmeric absorbed by your body. What’s the point of taking it if your body can’t use it? You are what you absorb:)

 

HOW MUCH TURMERIC SHOULD I TAKE?

The studies show you need 500 mgs – 2000 mgs of turmeric extract per day to get health benefits. Turmeric extract contains 95% curcuminoids. Turmeric root which is used in turmeric spice only contains 4-6% curcuminoids. It would be nearly impossible to get the recommended daily dose from turmeric root alone.
